Freilauf Podcast Summer Special:
Cycling in Graz – Encounters in the city park and Augarten

Interns Hannah and Sophia on the podcast Freilauf

We are Hannah and Sophia, two summer interns at cyclebee, and we are proud to present our very own podcast episode. While out and about in Graz, we visited places like the city park and the Augarten to find cyclists willing to answer some questions about cycling. If you're curious and would like to hear what our interviewees had to say, we hope you enjoy listening!.

An internship at cyclebee

Who we are

In July 2023, Hannah and I had the opportunity to complete an internship at cyclebee. We are both seventeen years old and attend schools with a focus on creative fields. Hannah is a student at HTBLVA Ortwein, specializing in film and multimedia art, while I, Sophia, attend HLW Deutschlandsberg, specializing in communication and media design.

Our task

Our task was to create our own podcast episode and everything that goes with it, and because of our different skills, we divided the tasks as follows: Hannah was responsible for all audio aspects, including recording, editing, and everything related to it. My responsibility, on the other hand, lay in the visual area. This included designing Instagram posts, stories, reels, and other content. Additionally, while Hannah conducted interviews with various people, I took photos of the people, the bikes, and the surroundings, and then edited those photos as well.

The internship

If I had to describe my internship at cyclebee in two words, I would choose "independent" and "flexible." At the beginning, we received a comprehensive overview of our tasks, and from then on, we were able to work independently. Hannah and I immediately developed a concept together and presented it in the first of our three weekly meetings. The constructive feedback allowed us to adapt our ideas and start recording right away.

Two aspects that reflected the flexibility were, firstly, the ability to largely manage our own time, and secondly, the option of working remotely. Working from home was a particular relief for me, as I live outside of Graz and no trains were running in my area during the summer holidays due to construction work.

Furthermore, we learned a great deal during our internship, and it was definitely not your typical summer internship where you just make coffee and sit around. We are extremely grateful for the valuable experiences we gained and the wonderful people we met.
